Founders Library Tour

When our class went to Founders Library it was the first time that I had been in that library. When we walked in the first thing that we saw was a model scale of Howard University and the surrounding area. The only place we couldn't find was Meridian Hall because it is so far off of campus. There were so many pictures and historical pieces. On one side of the library there was a display to honor the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc., Alpha Chapter (AKA). In the room with the pictures there was a table that was over 100 years old. Many famous and historical people have bben on this campus and their pictures are in Founders Library.

For the Fellas (a random poem i wrote)

Dear Mr. Chocolate, Mr. Caramel,
Mr. Beautiful Brown

Mister with the Hershey Kisses skin
Lips so plump and soft
And hair so thick,
You just want to play in it.

Mister with the swirl of cultures
One look in his eyes and you're in love
Dimples so deep,
You can't help but smile when you see him.

Mister with the light skin
The one we sometimes call "light bright"
Skin so smooth,
It feels like you're rubbin silk

Mister with that special swagger
Confidence as high as the Empire State Building
but never confuse that with cockiness

Fantasia talks about the "hood boys"
wife beaters and jeans.
Ciara talks about being saved
By that special Superman

Every brotha is different
The best one is
Waitin for his Mrs. Right
Instead of gettin with Mrs. Right Now

Chapel 11/2

On Novemeber 2, 2008, Dr. Sidney A. Ribeau spoke at chapel service that was held at Cramton Auditorium. His chapel service speech sounded a little like his convocation speech, where he talked a lot about hope and changes he wanted to bring to Howard University. Since he spoke at Chapel right before the election, he talked voting and Barack Obama. Many of the speakers talked about Obama and prayed that he would win the election.

Nanotechnology Symposium

On Novemeber 21, 2008, I went to a Nanotechnology Symposium that was in Blackburn Ballroom. The speaker was a professor from Harvard University. Most of what he talked about went over my head and I couldn't understand what he was talking about. My chemistry professor told our class that if we had went we would get extra credit. The thing that I remember the most is the professor was talking about something called nanoskiving.
